Pitching wedges usually have a loft of 48 or 50 degrees and a bounce of about 8 degrees. They are suitable for longer shots and shorter chips to the green. The beginner or golfer with short to medium distances is very well advised with a 48 degree pitching wedge, whereas the experienced player with longer distances would tend to use a 50 degree pitching wedge.
