The basic equipment of a beginner golfer usually only includes a pitching wedge, which is supplemented by a sand wedge as the game progresses. At the latest in tournaments, the importance of the short game is recognised and the existing wedges are adapted to the desired lengths. Most experienced players then select 3 wedges for their golf bag.
