A distinction is made between a pitching wedge with usually 48° to 50° loft, a gap wedge with 52° to 54° loft, a sand wedge with 56° to 58° loft and a lob wedge with 60° loft. Each golf wedge has a matching bounce, which is defined as the angle between the leading edge and the trailing edge of the sole.
